Saturday’s business meeting included the presentation of the portrait of the Rt. Rev. Herman “Holly” Hollerith, 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Click here for a video of the presentation.

The live virtual events will begin at 7 p.m. and are open to everyone (unless otherwise noted), and will be recorded for those unable to attend live.

  • Racial Diversity and Justice, 7 p.m. - join us for a panel discussion exploring ways we are seeking to repair the breach of racism and become beloved community in the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Panelists include Ms. Nellie Adkins, consultant to Chanco and the Matoaka Covenant Committee; Mr. Charles Farrar, member of the Repairers of the Breach Commission; Padre Mario Meléndez, Chaplain for Latino/x Ministries; and Ms. Helen Sharpe-Williams, President of the James Solomon Russell Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians.   • Evangelism: Telling Your Story, 7 p.m. - The Episcopal Youth Board of the Diocese of Southern Virginia has spent this past year exploring what Episcopal Evangelism is in our world and are excited to share what they have learned. While evangelism can be a scary word for many of us, we are called as Christians to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all whom we encounter. The EYC board invites you to join us for a discussion about evangelism as we seek, name, and celebrate Jesus’s loving presence in the stories that we tell.   • What is DCDI?, 6 p.m. - Our diocese is launching the Diocesan Church Development Institute (DCDI), which is a leadership-training program that will help congregations focus on developing their spiritual community and organizational leadership skills.   • Chanco on the James, 7 p.m. - Join us for a live Zoom event and hear about our camp programs, Happening, youth and Cursillo retreats, and more. Learn how these events bring our community closer to one another and to Christ in God’s great outdoors. Hear how our scholarships provide opportunities to those who would not otherwise be able to experience Chanco. Keynote Speaker: The Rt. Rev. Robert Wright, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, 7 p.m.

The Rt. Rev. Robert Wright became the 10th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta in 2012. Since his election, he has been a vocal and active leader in the community, addressing Georgia legislature about gun control, advocating against the death penalty, and supporting programs for underprivileged youth. He teaches about the importance of love and of justice and continues to lead the diocese to be one of service and faith and always on the mission for the Kingdom of God.

Certificate of Lay Delegates & Alternates for 2021-2022

Churches must submit a Certificate of Lay Delegates and Alternates in order for their lay delegates to be eligible to register for Council. Certificates were due by September 1, 2021. Click here for the Certificate form for the 2021-2022 conciliar year.
