Gratitude, Giving and Gladness: Making the Move to Year Round Stewardship
Saturday, May 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
St. Martin’s, Williamsburg

This first in a series of yearly stewardship events is designed for parish teams of up to three persons which may include clergy and stewardship chairs. Cost for the event is $25 per person. Presenter: Susan Lee Vick
Susan Lee Vick is founding chair of the Commission on Gratitude in the Diocese of Northern California. An in-demand preacher, speaker, consultant, and trainer, Susan celebrates the ministry of stewardship as "the joy business," a lifelong opportunity to learn and teach that it really is more blessed to give than to receive. Susan is the Co-author of Grateful, Glad, and Giving: Year Round, Abundance Based, Stewardship, Congregations around the country have found Grateful, Glad, and Giving an engaging, highly customizable, and integrated approach to stewardship, leadership development, and congregational revitalization. "G3," as it's affectionately known, spotlights and amplifies abundance, on all fronts. Susan is a postulant for ordained priesthood, the founder and Chief Development Officer of the Church Investment Group, and the mother of four children aged 14 - 22. Her home parish, The Church of the Incarnation, is in Santa Rosa, California.

 

Province III Small Church Conference
May 28-31

The Province III Small Church Conference will be held May 28-31 at Shrine Mont Retreat Center in Orkney Springs, Virginia. Join colleagues from Province III in the springtime peace of the Shenandoah Valley and enjoy Shrine Mont's notorious hospitality while discussing the small church in the 21st century. This four day conference will will give participants the chance to get together and discuss issues shared by and challenging congregations from small churches. Church Communicators Meeting
June 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. Stephen's, Newport News

This will be a terrific opportunity to get information and also to get connected with other communicators around the diocese. Carlyle Gravely, former editor of the Jamestown Cross, will bring information from the national Episcopal Communicators recent annual conference. Ann Turner, diocesan communications officer, will present the new Church Communicators Manual for Southern Virginia. Each participant will get a copy of the manual to take back to their congregation. Open Planning & Strategy Workshop for Youth Leaders

Get prepared for the next program year! Mark your calendar for the Open Planning & Strategy Workshop for Youth Leaders on Saturday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hickory Neck, Toano. Adults who work with youth in parishes around the diocese are invited to come together for this annual gathering. We will join in problem-solving, calendar-planning and sharing effective strategies for youth ministry in the parish. We will also discuss ways we can better collaborate locally and brainstorm ideas for diocesan youth ministry initiatives. This is a great opportunity to network with other leaders, share your ideas, and get inspired. Light breakfast and full lunch provided. No fee to attend. Lansing Lee Conference with Eric Metaxas
