Chanco on the James
Chanco on the James is a residential youth camp and retreat center supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. Located in Surry County on 125 beautiful acres next to the James River, Chanco is available for retreats, meetings, family gatherings, or special events. Motel-style rooms or home-like lodges allow for large and small groups to gather, conduct business or join in faith services. Camp Chanco
Camp Chanco is Chanco on the James’ residential summer camp for boys and girls 8 -17 years old. Rustic cabins, outdoor pavilions, and new and exciting activities provide for summer experiences and friendships that last a lifetime. Swimming, sailing, canoeing, archery, nature studies, games, zip lines, ropes course and other attractions provide youth with an opportunity to learn, grow and have fun in the process. Camp Wakonda
Since 1994, Camp Wakonda, a specialty camp supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, has been dedicated to providing a camp experience at no charge to children infected or affected with HIV/AIDS. Camp Wakonda is the only camp of its type in the country offering kids a no-charge, camping opportunity supported entirely by volunteers.
