2022 Fall Clergy Retreat

"Leadership in a Time of Exile"

Our Fall Clergy Retreat will take place October 24-26 at Chanco on the James. Our retreat will be led by Bishop Ed Little, retired bishop of Northern Indiana. Bishop Little will focus on the First Letter of Peter:  “The early Christian community in north central Asia Minor (modern day Turkey) was beginning to experience the first outbreak of systematic persecution. The First Letter of Peter offers guidance, encouragement, and challenge to those first-century Christians – and, in the process, helps us to navigate the complexities of following Jesus in a culture that is indifferent, and sometimes hostile, to the Christian faith.”

This year’s retreat will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with Bishop Little’s first session and will end after lunch on Wednesday. Clergy are invited to arrive at Chanco any time after 10:00 a.m. on Monday for a Quiet Day, however the first meal in the dining hall will be dinner at 6:00 p.m.

Attendance at Bishop Little’s retreat sessions will be offered virtually, via Zoom, for those unable to attend in person. Click here for the retreat schedule of events.

Registration fees are:

• Overnight - $325
• Commuter - $100
• Virtual only - $25

Clergy in Southern Virginia are invited and expected to attend two clergy events held annually at our diocesan retreat center, Chanco on the James:

• Spring Clergy Day - a one-day event held typically in May
• Fall Clergy Retreat - a two-day retreat held typically in late October or early November. An optional quiet day is offered prior to the retreat
