Assistant Teacher (Posted August 31, 2019)

Ascension Episcopal Day School in Norfolk is seeking fulltime Afternoon Assistant Teacher position in our Toddler and Preschool Rooms.  Work hours are either 9:30 to 6:15 (Preschool) of 12:30-6:15 (Toddler). Ascension Day School serves pre-school children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. Our program is designed to cultivate the cognitive, social, physical, creative, and emotional development of each child in a caring environment.  The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, creative, collaborative and supportive learning community for 8-12 children. This is a fulltime, hourly position.  Starting pay is $10.50 per hour with paid leave and pension benefits. The successful candidate should have: a min. of 1-2 years experience in an early childhood center; some college level courses in early education or related field; early education training including early education teaching methods and child development theory; effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to work with diverse populations. Lead Preschool Teacher (Posted August 17, 2018)

Ascension Episcopal Day School in Norfolk is seeking a Lead Teacher to be responsible for creating a nurturing, innovative, collaborative, and supportive learning community for 8-14 children ages 4-5 years.  The Lead Teacher is responsible for the day-to- day management of one classroom and the supervision of 2 Assistant Teachers.  This is a 12-month professional position.  Work hours are 7:00 am to 3 pm. Director of Children & Youth Ministries (Posted July 31, 2018)

Grace Episcopal Church, located in historic Yorktown, Virginia, is seeking a creative and engaging Director of Children and Youth Ministries (DCYM) to sustain and expand programs for its growing congregation.  We are an inclusive community of faith, invested in the spiritual growth and formation of children, youth, and families. Responsibilities include inspiring children and youth to a life of faith, nurturing a community of mutual support, developing and overseeing Christian Formation programs, recruiting and training volunteers, collaborating with clergy and staff, and performing administrative duties.  The DCYM must be able to relate to and work with children, youth, and their parents and be committed to meeting the diverse and unique needs of children of all ages.  Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, including written, oral, and various social media strategies, are necessary. Previous experience in youth ministry in a parish setting or a compelling alternative is essential.  Experience in both teaching and administration is preferred.  Hours are flexible, but must include your presence on Sundays, when parents and children are available, and at other times to collaborate with clergy and staff.  Salary depends on available time commitment, education, qualifications, and relevant experience. Choir Accompanist/Assistant Organist (Posted July 30, 2018)

Choir Accompanist/Assistant Organist needed for Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock.  Duties include accompanying the choir at the principal Sunday morning service and at special seasonal services during the year, one weekly choir rehearsal, and assisting the Director of Music as needed.  Qualifications are formal organ training and accompanying experience.  Salary is dependent on qualifications.  An alternate possibility is an organ scholar who is currently studying organ with the expectation of becoming a church musician.  The music at Grace Church is traditional Episcopal and Anglican hymnody and choral music, with Anglican chant for the Psalm.
