Youth Ministry in Southern Virginia

EYC Virtual Hangout is back!

The EYC Board will be hosting virtual game nights the first and the third Thursday of the month over zoom at 5 p.m.  Youth from across the Diocese are invited to join as we play games, build community and spend some time in prayer.  We will use the same Zoom link week to week, but youth who are interested in joining us will need to register here to obtain the Zoom link.  Stay tuned in for more details to come about what games we will be playing week to week.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Megan Dern at mdern@diosova.org or at 757-213-3393.

Upcoming Programs & Events

Happening Reunion
Dec 6 at 5 p.m.
Join us for a special prayer service where will join in community and prayer for this season that we are in.  While we miss seeing all of you in person during this time, we are excited about seeing you in this virtual space to catch up and pray for the upcoming year.  Sign up here. We are also putting together a short video to the song “Give Yourself to Love” that we would love to feature you in. Please send us clips of you singing to this classic Happening song, or acting out how yourself to love, or even photos from your Happening experience.  You can send all your videos and photos to mdern@diosova.org or upload them here.

Thursday Virtual Hangouts
We continue to encourage youth who are looking to connect with other youth in the Episcopal Community to join us on the first and third Thursdays of the month for games over zoom and a little fellowship. If your church’s youth group isn’t currently meeting, this is a great place for your youth to come and still be engaged. Sign up here

Chanco on the James Camp and Conference Center
Chanco on the James is our diocesan retreat center and residential summer camping ministry.  The Executive Director is Gareth Kalfas.  Contact Gareth at director@chanco.org.

Chanco Chaplain Program
Each summer a number of dedicated visiting clergy partner with the summer Residential Chaplain to serve the Camp Chanco community.  Visiting clergy commit to celebrating one Eucharist, while the Residential Chaplain stays on-site during the summer sessions to teach chaplain class, provide pastoral care, and lead morning devotions.  If you are interested in being part of this important and rewarding ministry, contact Gareth Kalfas at Chanco, director@chanco.org.
