EYC Board

The Episcopal Youth Community Board is a team of nine youth in grades 10-12 who design and lead EYC events and represent the youth of the diocese as ambassadors at Annual Council and other gatherings.  Adult advisors to the EYC Board include Youth Missioner Ashley Scruggs, Barbara McLaughlin of St. Christopher’s Portsmouth, and Rick Mason of St. David’s Chesterfield. Interested in serving on the EYC Board or know someone who might be? Elections are held each year at May Weekend.

Happening Team

The Happening Team coordinates all aspects of the Happening Program in our diocese including weekend planning, staff oversight, and reunion weekends. We meet approximately monthly.  The team is co-chaired by the Rev. Eileen Walsh, ewalsh143@aol.com, and Mr. Chris O'Brien, simsobrien@gmail.com.

The Christian Education Network of Southern Virginia supports lay and ordained, professional and volunteer educators.  We meet monthly for lunch to share resources and problem-solve, and we gather quarterly for special programs with engaging speakers.  To learn more contact Jennifer Nauroth of Emmanuel Hampton at jenny.nauroth@cox.net

Chanco on the James Camp and Conference Center

Chanco is our diocesan retreat center and residential summer camping ministry.  The president of the Board of Directors is diocesan Youth Missioner Ashley Scruggs.  Contact Ashley at ascruggs@diosova.org.  The Executive Director is Gareth Kalfas.  Contact Gareth at director@chanco.org.

Chanco Chaplain Program

Each summer a team of dedicated clergy and lay ministers serve the Camp Chanco community as members of the chaplain team.  Visiting Chaplains commit to celebrating one Eucharist, while Residential Chaplains stay on-site during sessions to teach chaplain class, provide pastoral care, and lead morning devotions.  If you are interested in being part of this important and rewarding ministry, please contact Ashley at 757-213-3393 or ascruggs@diosova.org
